The Recreation Center in a wholesome alternative space for teens, young adults, and ladies to gather and avoid the drinking and secular dance stalls in the market. On Friday nights we host a movie showing. We arrange volleyball tournaments. And soon we will have our very own soccer field! It is a multi-use space -- the first of its kind in the community.
GWF assists during times of drought when it becomes challenging to access maize by importing and selling maize at cost price to the community.
We host woman's health events where topics that are normally taboo are discussed freely to dispel false ideas and beliefs surrounding woman's health. Each lady is given a reusable sanitary pack and is taught how to use it hygienically and safely under her conditions.
Every week the Recreation Center is opened to the women only for their social enjoyment. In their culture they get very little opportunity to break away from their responsibilities and connect with other ladies in a fun way.
A number of people are not able to feed their newly born babies either because of a lack of breastmilk production or because the mother might have died. We support these babies by giving them milk powder and monitoring their growth, development, and health.
Little Bush Babies Preschool
We currently have two pre schools where we supply early childhood education to around 60 children. Preschools 4 Africa's research indicates that a child who does not receive the correct education in their first 5 years has a 70% chance of being arrested for a violent crime and has less than 30% chance of entering tertiary education. The blessing of seeing these children being given a chance is immense. Unfortunately there are so many who are not given the opportunity.
